We're NOT a raiding guild although we do have a few that run lfr's together. We're beginning to conduct Mythics and arbitrary BG's together but classic gold wow it's all optional. This is all about having individuals who work and have family's that do not feel pressured to"with" to log in to do anything unless they wish to. Guild chat is usually pretty active and it's about being on.
Its not because of the WOW players enjoying WOW Classic though. It is because WOW Classic right now is designed to be exactly that, a somewhat convoluted selfish RPG encounter with barely any MMO in it at all. It's fucking annoying that blizzard forgot what MMO stands for in their own game and they've decided to basically ditch the community aspect of WOW Classic. Even worse is that they've begun doing it back at wrath of the lich king. They've gone up to now down the rabbit hole they would have to literally re do the whole match to make it plausible as an mmo.
The one thing you"need" a guild for is to do raiding, and even then if you are a godlike raid leader you can get pugs in a discord machine and voila, you are experiencing what a guild is. And now shadowlands, certain torghast is awesome, essentially a ninja like adventure in a game, but 90 percent of this so called community will just do it solo, since it is less struggle, because it is theoretically easier because you only have to handle what you do. Meaning they have created another single player experience as one of the core mechanics of the new xpac.
People talk about how levelling in WOW Classic is the very best thing, fuck off, it is actually the folks around you, some are dicks, some you make friends with and some you just play WOW Classic for to be about. Whereas people in retail are NPCs, even fucking worse than NPCs because with them you must interact after, with nearly all the WOW players that you do not need to.
Fuck me blizzard, you done fucked it up, might as well call your game only Warcraft since the World is a code phrase for single player open world RPG encounter (which is most of the times great, annoyingly enough). Yeah the neighborhood has gotten super toxic and it's all about instant gratification. Even though there are some WOW players such as me that remember the old times and keep in mind that feeling of being part of something. Take for example just today there was this lvl 20 man that asked me to duel (I'm lvl 120 btw) and that I was in the middle of performing some questing mostly just for reputation.

Then I finally after a couple of minutes that I struck him and killed him with the automobile attack. Once I re-equipped my gear I sat and talked with him for about 2 hours about WOW Classic and items you can do. I even made him so a complete collection of 30 slot bags. So dont get discouraged. We're out there. WOW Classic can be about the same although tbh except type of worse imo because I have noticed people have a tendency to kick you just as quickly but the thing is its alot harder to enter classes in WOW Classic.
