Outside of that, it’s difficult to glean too much more from the 80-second clip. Personally, we’d like to see the overall pace of the series improved: we enjoyed NBA 2K23 at the time, but the repetitive cutscenes really begin to break the flow after a while – and when you pair that with the endless traversal in MyCareer, it feels like the game is often getting in its own way.
As was the case last year, NBA 2K23 will have a GameStop exclusive WNBA Edition, with Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi and Seattle Storm’s Sue Bird on the cover. This unique version of the game will represent an alternative to the Michael Jordan options announced yesterday, and will presumably complement an updated version of The W in this year’s basketball sim.
A press release adds: “Celebrating Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi’s career-long commitments to securing equal opportunities for female athletes, NBA 2K is also partnering with the WNBA stars to donate $100,000 to Every Kid Sports, giving young girls the opportunity to join youth basketball programs across the country.”
This year’s regular cover athlete will be announced when pre-orders open on 7th July, although it’s widely rumoured the Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker will be said star. We’ll obviously bring you all of the news when it breaks, but for now, you can check out the WNBA trailer embedded at the top of the page.
