Sheath blight

Sheath blight is a plant disease caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia solani. This disease can affect several crops, including rice, wheat, and maize. Sheath blight can cause significant yield loss in infected plants, and it is important for farmers to be aware of the symptoms of this disease.

Sheath blight symptoms include yellow or brown lesions on the leaves, stem, and sheath of the plant. The lesions may be circular or elongated, and they may coalesce to form large blighted areas. The affected plant parts may also be covered in a dark brown or black fungus.

If you suspect that your plants are infected with sheath blight, it is important to contact a qualified agricultural extension agent or plant pathologist for confirmation. Once diagnosed, sheath blight can be controlled with the use of fungicides.
