Choosing Mirrors for Home – style vs practicality, what actually matters?

I’ve been trying to refresh a few things in my apartment without doing a full renovation, and somehow I ended up thinking way too much about mirrors. At first I thought I’d just replace one old bathroom mirror, but then I started looking at different styles and realized it’s actually a bigger decision than it seems. While browsing, I came across mirror for makeup vanity and saw everything from simple wall mirrors to more modern LED and decorative options. It reminded me of when I moved into my place and just kept whatever was already installed without really choosing it myself. Now I’m wondering — do people usually pick mirrors mainly for function (lighting, size, usability), or do you think style matters just as much? I feel like I’m overthinking something that should be simple, but at the same time it’s one of those things you look at every single day.

I went through the same thing a while ago when I moved into my apartment. At first I didn’t care at all about the mirror — it was just “something on the wall.” But after living there for a few months, I realized how much it affects daily routines. I ended up replacing my bathroom mirror with a larger one that had better lighting around it, and it honestly made mornings less frustrating. Before that, I always had weird shadows on my face depending on the time of day, and I didn’t even notice how much it bothered me until it was fixed.

I don’t usually think about mirrors beyond just using them quickly before heading out, but this topic made me pause a bit. It’s funny how some objects in a home become almost invisible over time even though you interact with them every day. In my case, I’ve always had a very basic setup, nothing decorative or special. I never really questioned it because it just worked. But I can see how people who care about interior balance or lighting would pay much more attention to something like this.
