Reducing the possibility of wall and building collapse can be done quickly, efficiently, and cheaply with this method. As a result of the use of Propping in Christchurch, the time and money needed to repair or rebuild damaged structures have been drastically reduced. The materials used for propping include steel rods, concrete, and reinforcing bars. The steel rods resist compression and strain because they are embedded in the concrete and form a network. While the building is being reconstructed or renovated, the integrity of the network is maintained.
